Reunion 2014 Recap

Thank you to all our Tigers who came home to celebrate their high school reunion with us!
Just two weeks ago, the hallways of 2000 Edgehill were filled with the familiar faces of alumni who graduated in years ending in 4 or 9.

Reunion 2014 kicked off with a fantastic All Alumni Party at the alumni-owned restaurant/music venue The Stone Fox. Elise Tyler '02 was a lovely hostess for our event. Her brother and partner William Tyler '98 couldn't be with us as he was on tour.

Guests enjoyed bahn mi sliders and sweet potato brie flat breads as they reminisced about their time at USN/PDS. The highlight of the evening was USN Director Vince Durnan joining the live band karaoke to belt out the Miley Cyrus hit, "Wrecking Ball," at the request of the Class of 2004.

This year's alumni art show also was a celebration of the tenth birthday of USN's Christine Slayden Tibbott Center. Chris Tibbott was on hand to speak to her many admirers, along with event chair Sarah Sperling '92 and exhibiting artists Michael Osheroff '09, Mclaine Richardson '04, and Anya Weitzman '08. A great crowd gathered to see artwork by Michael, Mclaine, Anya, Powell Regen '09, Lindsey Eskind '09, Douglas Schatz '07, and Jennifer Plumridge '08

The classes of 1964, 1969, 1979, and 2004 enjoyed class parties Friday evening after the art show reception.

Saturday, alumni and former faculty gathered on campus to view our extended archives display, sign the construction beam (to be placed at the top of our new building project), share their memories on our memory walls, and welcome the Class of 1964 into the Gold Circle. Vince Durnan gave them an inspiring state of the school address and encouraged all alumni to take part in the school's centennial celebration next year. Reunion Lunch attendees enjoyed a delicious lunch capped off with Mary Allen '09's award-winning Purity ice cream flavor Graham Ole Opry served on edible graham cracker spoons.

Before and after lunch, groups of alumni departed on tours of USN--including the new building project--led by students Connor Webber '14 and David Shayne '14, Assistant Admissions Director Scott Collins '05, and Finance Director Teresa Standard.

This year's reunion was a special one for the May family as Leon May '39, Frank May '74, and Rachel May '04 celebrated three generations of USN/PDS reunions. They weren't the only multi-generational alumni family celebrating: Teri Weinstein Cohen joined the Gold Circle with her 1964 classmates as daughter Stephanie Cohen caught up with her 1994 classmates.

Several of our lunch attendees took Vince up on his suggestion of visiting our River Campus and joined us at our family event there Saturday afternoon. Boys' Athletic Director Josh Scouten oversaw the kids' putt putt activity while Girls' Athletic Director Nicole Jules ran the kickball game. River Campus Grounds and Facility Manager Bret Mash led an informative walk around the River Campus wetlands, and refreshments were available from two food trucks.

The classes of 1989, 1994, 1999, and 2009 had class parties Saturday evening after the River Campus event. One party was simply not enough for the Class of 1964; they got together again on Saturday night, too!

Those reunion revellers who could still rise with the sun headed off to play a round of golf at the acclaimed Hermitage Golf Course as part of the USN Tiger Classic Golf Tournament.

Thank you to all who came home to 2000 Edgehill to celebrate with us. We hope to see ALL of you next May 1 and 2 as we invite all classes to take part in the Centennial Reunion/Birthday event.
