“This is so much fun! I love this project!” exclaims USN archivist Jenny Winston as she welcomes ninth graders to the Archives for research.
As part of observing our Centennial, ninth grade students are once again embarking on a journey into their school’s history through the narrative writing project. Searching through yearbooks, newspapers, magazines, and programs, students have discovered both similarities and differences among themselves and PDS/USN alums.
Clif Shayne ’18 expresses excitement that Steven Davis ’98 had not been claimed. Steven, recent Emmy Award winner, writes Clif’s favorite show, Bob’s Burgers. Clif came across Steven’s name while perusing the latest issue of 2000Edgehill, the alumni magazine.
Interested in beginning his own business someday, Alex Freedman ’18 has contacted Benjamin Goldberg ‘98, a local entrepreneur who began his successful career while still in high school. Ben and his younger brother Max are known as premier restaurateurs in Nashville.
Abby Varney ’18 is delighted to find someone who shares not only her fluency in Spanish, but also her interest in science. Carol Venable ’91 lives in Pueblo, Colorado where she operates a medical clinic. A bicyclist, basketball player, track star, fashion designer, journalist, thespian, scientist, or whatever else—students are realizing how much they share with students of the past.
To celebrate the Centennial and to record a bit of history, ninth graders are capturing anecdotes and stories, some of which will be published on USN100.org for all of us to enjoy. If you have a story you’d like to tell, feel free to contact Betty White bwhite@email.usn.org or Britt McCauley bmccauley@email.usn.org in the Alumni Office.
