Soccer Team Defeats Davidson Academy

In the 3 years I have been coaching here at USN, we had never beaten Davidson 6-0. Scoring 6 goals and not allowing Davidson any shots tells a lot about where this program is going.

In the first half, we dominated in our attacking half. In the first 10 minutes, Jesse Shofner took the ball up the left side and laid it across, where Whitley Cargile was there to finish. In the 21st minute, Leah Fassinger threw a long ball into Jordan Lavender, who was there to finish the goal in the back of the net.

At halftime, we discussed keeping possession and switching the point of attack.

In the second half, we scored again in the first 10 minutes. Ariel Yazdian dribbled the ball down the left side, crossed the ball inside the box, and Jordan Lavender scored her second goal of the night. In the 15th minute, the ball was loose inside the 6 yard box and Mallory Leeper finished it. In the 27th minute, Miriam Miller assisted to Jesse Shofner. Our last goal came from Jordan Lavender using her speed, getting behind the defense, and placing the ball far post in the 32nd minute.

Our pre season games were successful. Our players learned a lot playing quality and talented opponents. Now, we get ready for our regular season games.
