Three High School musicians braved the jitters and the traffic to attend auditions for Middle Tennessee School Band and Orchestra Association’s Mid-State and All State auditions during the fall semester.
Auditions included three parts: scales, prepared music, and sight reading. The highest scoring musicians in each section were selected to be members of the Mid-State ensembles, with only the top few students from each section qualifying for All State.
On Friday, September 10, Sarah Page-McCaw headed to a MTSBOA audition at Wilson Central High School in Lebanon. There Sarah was named fifth chair on Bb clarinet for the mid-state gold band and the all-state band. Adam Wang ’24 attended the same audition. Adam’s cello performance landed him fourth chair for the mid-state string orchestra and the all-state orchestra too.
Meanwhile, on Friday, November 12, Sheerea Yu auditioned at Antioch High School in Antioch. Sheerea was selected as violin second chair for the mid-state strings orchestra and all-state orchestra. Additionally, Sheerea was named assistant concertmaster.
“[The students] performed with aplomb, and we are tremendously proud of these fine young musicians,” HS Chamber Ensemble Director Katie Greenebaum shared.
Sarah, Adam, and Sheerea will attend Mid-State weekend in Murfreesboro in January and the All State weekend at Opryland in April.
