Miles ’19, Basil ’19, Anne ’19, Clayton ’19, Zoe ’19, and Evan ’19 received Certificates of Merit and will soon be notified of scholarships.

University School of Nashville is pleased to announce Miles Bishop ’19, Basil Egli ’19, Anne French ’19, Clayton Jelsma ’19, Zoe Light ’19, and Evan Rork ’19 have advanced to become finalists in the 64th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Head of High School Quinton Walker presented them with their Certificates of Merit on Monday, Feb. 25.
The National Merit Scholarship Corp. has recognized 8 percent of the University School of Nashville’s Class of 2019 for top PSAT scores. It also named Amanda Ding ’19 a commended student.
Jelsma also was selected a National Hispanic Scholar, an honor the National Hispanic Recognition Program extends to students who score in the top 2.5 percent among Hispanic and Latino PSAT test takers.
These students were selected as among the highest scoring entrants in Tennessee from the pool of students who took the 2017 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. In March they will be notified of scholarships.
The National Merit Scholarship Corp. is a nonprofit organization providing scholarships underwritten by funds from the nonprofit, businesses, and higher education institutions that share its goals of honoring the nation’s scholastic champions and encouraging the pursuit of academic excellence.
